Tran Feminine Hormone Timeline
This section will be devoted to the changes induced by cross sex hormone therapy (HRT) in male-trans feminine or nonbinary individuals. Please note that no two transitions are the same, patients will experience all the effects to varying degrees, many of the effects are predetermined by age, genetics and body-habits (Bourns et al., 2023 p. 42). While specific hormones and dose do play a role, we do not get to pick and choose what the end results will be just like any other puberty. Specific hormones will not be discussed in this section, just a rough timeline of hormone therapy and the changes that typically come with it. Keep in mind that changes really do take 5 years to mature, rushing through transition or expecting all the changes to come about in the first year is unrealistic. Have patience with yourself and your body.
This chart is from rainbowhealthontario, it displays the physical changes that will happen with HRT, when they typically begin and end along with whether a change is permanent or not.
This chart is similar to the one above, it is sourced from guidelines for gender-affirming primary care with trans and non-binary patients. While the charts contain near identical information, they present in slightly different ways , both are included encase one of the charts is confusing.
